The Pokémon franchise is expanding its presence through diverse media, gaming, and consumer product collaborations. 

Polaroid and The Pokémon Company International announced a limited-edition collaboration to mark the franchise’s 30th anniversary. This collection includes themed instant cameras, such as the Poké Ball-designed Polaroid Now Generation 3 and Pikachu and Sylveon editions of the Polaroid Go, alongside specialized film and accessories. 

The Polaroid Go Gen 3 models feature a selfie mirror, self-timer, and double exposure modes. The Poké Ball edition of the Polaroid Now Gen 3 includes technical upgrades such as an “improved ranging sensor, a better light meter position, and an upgraded two-lens autofocus system.” Pre-orders are available through the Polaroid Store and the Pokémon Center in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada, with the full collection scheduled for release on October 5, 2026.

Further developments show the franchise achieving significant commercial success in the gaming sector. Pokémon Legends: Z-A sold 5.8 million copies on Switch and Switch 2 within its first week, while the life-simulation title Pokémon Pokopia sold 2.2 million copies on Switch 2, influencing Nintendo’s stock value. The brand continues to maintain a high user base through Pokémon GO and is exploring new genres, including an action RPG project.
