The K2PL tank program, involving South Korean company Hyundai Rotem and Poland’s Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), has faced industrial challenges regarding the domestic assembly and technology transfer process. Disagreements have emerged concerning the final assembly of 61 K2PL models at Bumar-Łabędy and the determination of locations for engine maintenance.

In an effort to increase the industrial dimension of the program, Hyundai Rotem signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huta Częstochowa during the MSPO 2026 International Defence Industry Exhibition. This agreement aims to evaluate the use of Polish-produced armored steel plates for the production of K2PL tanks and other military platforms, supporting the broader goal of localizing the manufacturing of hulls, turrets, and critical components.
