A 27-year-old man was arrested in Gallipoli after attacking police officers on the Galileo Galilei seafront. The incident began when authorities responded to reports of the individual throwing stones in a crowded tourist area near Baia Verde.

During the intervention, the suspect, who was described as being in a state of high agitation, resisted attempts to use a taser. He reportedly used a wooden chair leg as a weapon, striking one officer in the head and injuring another officer’s hand. The assault was eventually halted with the help of an off-duty member of the Guardia di Finanza.

The suspect, who was already known to law enforcement, faces charges of resistance and injury. Following consultation with the public prosecutor at the Lecce Tribunal, he was taken into custody.
