The Polish Council of Shopping Centers rebranded as the Polish Council of Commercial Objects (PROH) to better represent a diversifying retail market that now includes retail parks, convenience formats, and mixed-use projects. President Justyna Kur stated the previous name was “too narrow” for the modern sector. Following this rebranding, PROH representatives met with the Ministry of Development and Technology to address challenges related to the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). The discussions covered energy performance certificates and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. A primary point of debate involved the methodology for assigning energy classes. PROH advocated for a separate category for commercial objects, arguing that the unique operational characteristics of shopping centers and parks—such as large common areas and tenant autonomy over systems—mean current assessment methods may not accurately reflect true energy efficiency levels. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-27: Polish Council of Commercial Objects meets with Ministry of Development and Technology The Polish Council of Commercial Objects met with the Ministry of Development and Technology to discuss EPBD directive implementation and the need for specific energy classification for commercial properties. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/polish-council-of-commercial-objects-meets-with-ministry-of-development-and-technology ### 2026-09-01: Polish Council of Shopping Centers rebrands to Polish Council of Commercial Objects The Polish Council of Shopping Centers has rebranded as the Polish Council of Commercial Objects (PROH) to better represent the evolving retail market, including retail parks and mixed-use projects. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/polish-council-of-shopping-centers-rebrands-to-polish-council-of-commercial-objects --- Cite as: Polish Council of Commercial Objects activities.
