Romanian President Nicușor Dan has faced increasing political tension and social friction. Following an incident where supporters of Călin Georgescu used funeral rituals and candles to form the initials of journalist Cristian Tudor Popescu near a Bucharest arrest facility, President Dan condemned the act as “inacceptable” and warned against using political disagreements to harass the press.

Simultaneously, AUR leader George Simion has moved to initiate constitutional procedures to suspend President Dan, seeking the necessary parliamentary signatures through the PSD.

In response to rising social tensions, President Dan attended a Holy Liturgy at the Cotroceni Palace Church. During the service, he called for moderation and respect for differing opinions, noting that “hatred and strife are growing larger” in society.
