In late September, the principal of Bhola Nazirur Rahman College was allegedly assaulted inside the Monpura Upazila Model Mosque while attending a religious lecture. The principal accused leaders and activists of the Jubo Dal and Swechasebak Dal of orchestrating the attack, citing a previous dispute over an employee dismissal. Local political leaders denied these allegations, suggesting the motive may have been related to the dismissed employee. In October, a second incident occurred near the Fazil Madrasa Jame Mosque. An assistant teacher and a community health worker sustained serious head injuries after being reportedly lured from the mosque and attacked with sticks and local weapons. The victims alleged the assault was led by a ward organizational secretary for Jamaat-e-Islami following a political disagreement. In both instances, local police have indicated that legal proceedings and investigations are contingent upon the filing of formal written complaints. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-11: Monpura: Teacher and health worker injured in assault A teacher and a health worker were seriously injured in an assault in Monpura, Bhola, allegedly led by a local Jamaat-e-Islami leader following a political dispute. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/monpura-teacher-and-health-worker-injured-in-assault ### 2026-09-21: College principal assaulted inside mosque in Monpura A college principal in Monpura, Bhola, was allegedly assaulted by political activists inside a mosque following a dispute regarding a former employee's dismissal. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/college-principal-assaulted-inside-mosque-in-monpura --- Cite as: Political violence and assaults in Monpura.
