Porsche has unveiled the Flachbau RS, a unique, one-of-one vehicle created through its Sonderwunsch (special wishes) department. Unveiled at Monterey Car Week, the car was commissioned by a single client and took approximately three years to develop in collaboration with Manthey, Style Porsche, Weissach, and Porsche Motorsport. Based on a customer-supplied 2018 911 GT2 RS with the Weissach package, the vehicle is a modern homage to the legendary 935/78 ‘Moby Dick’ and the classic ‘slant nose’ design. The car features a ‘Grand Prix White’ paint job with matte black and exposed carbon fiber accents, including a U-shaped graphic inspired by the Martini livery of the original race car. Design modifications include a redesigned front end with flatter fenders, specialized air extraction vents above the wheel arches, slimline LED headlights, and a custom splitter. While it retains the original 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine producing 700 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque, the vehicle has been significantly lightened. By removing the infotainment, audio system, and sound insulation, Porsche achieved a weight reduction of approximately 31.6 to 32 kilograms. The road-legal Flachbau RS features advanced aerodynamics, including a front splitter, rear diffuser, and a large, manually adjustable rear wing inspired by the 911 GT3 R Rennsport.
