Sources: 8. Developments: 2. Porsche has issued an urgent stop-drive order for various 2024 high-performance models due to a defect in the center-lock wheel mounting system. The issue involves a central locking bolt or nut that may be manufactured outside of specifications, making it susceptible to fracturing under load. This defect poses a risk of the wheel loosening or detaching while driving, which could lead to a complete loss of vehicle control. In North America, the recall affects 548 vehicles, including several 911 and 718 models. Porsche has advised owners to park their vehicles immediately if they experience “noticeable vibrations” from the wheels. In Australia, the recall involves 77 examples of 2024 911 and 718 models. This campaign expands upon an earlier recall from October 2024, as investigations revealed that previous screening methods failed to identify all defective components from specific material batches. Affected owners will be contacted to arrange for free inspections and component replacements at authorized dealers. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-25: Porsche recalls high-performance sports cars over wheel detachment risk Porsche is recalling various 2024 911 and 718 sports car models in the US and Australia because defective center-lock wheel nuts could cause wheels to detach while driving. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/porsche-recalls-high-performance-sports-cars-over-wheel-detachment-risk ### 2026-10-23: Porsche issues stop-drive order for 2024 models due to wheel defect Porsche has ordered owners of certain 2024 911 and 718 models to stop driving immediately due to a defect in center-lock wheel components that could cause wheels to detach. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/porsche-issues-stop-drive-order-for-2024-models-over-wheel-defect --- Cite as: Porsche high-performance vehicle wheel recall.
