The Porto Velho municipal government has implemented several social and environmental initiatives. Through the ‘Mais Educação Infantil’ program, the city secured school placements for 70 children in the Vista Alegre do Abunã district by utilizing accredited private institutions to address vacancies in the public system. The municipal government also plans to construct two new school units in the district by 2028.

In addition to educational expansion, the city has launched programs for environmental education and animal welfare. These include field trips to the Porto Velho Natural Park to teach biodiversity conservation and the expansion of the ‘Merenda Pet’ project, which aims to install 50 feeding points across the city. Other measures include the installation of specialized pet waste bins in public parks and the establishment of a new shelter for community cats.
