Infraestruturas de Portugal has initiated a public tender for the construction of the Vimioso–Carção bridge over the Maçãs River on the EN218 highway. The project, valued at a base price of 45 million euros, represents a 15 million euro increase from a previous tender attempt.

The proposed 850-meter bridge is intended to reduce the connection distance between Vimioso and Carção from 11.7 kilometers to six kilometers. The structure will feature a pillar reaching 120 meters in height. Interested companies have until October 8, 2026, to submit proposals for the 900-day execution project.
