Sources: 4. Developments: 2. As the Prague mayoral elections approach, political candidates are debating various aspects of municipal management and urban development. Initial discussions focused on the cultural landscape and the distribution of municipal funding. Candidates such as Adam Scheinherr and Jan Hušbauer advocated for expanding cultural access to residential outskirts through predictable, multi-year grants. In contrast, Klára Sovová suggested prioritizing urban cleanliness, parks, and public safety over cultural subsidies. As the election nears, the debate has expanded to include transport infrastructure and large-scale urban projects. Key issues include the financing of Metro D and the Prague ring roads. Jan Hušbauer maintains that sufficient funds exist to avoid new European Investment Bank loans, while Tomáš Portlík argues that costs exceeding 200 billion CZK will require negotiations with the national government. Candidates have also criticized the management of existing infrastructure, including the Libeň Bridge and traffic calming measures on Smetanovo nábřeží. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-02: Prague mayoral candidates debate transport and infrastructure plans Prague mayoral candidates are debating transport infrastructure, including Metro D and ring roads, amid disagreements over funding and criticism of past projects like the Libeň Bridge. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/prague-mayoral-candidates-debate-transport-and-infrastructure-plans ### 2026-09-19: Prague cultural landscape and municipal funding debates Prague's cultural landscape extends beyond the historic center into districts like Žižkov and Holešovice, while mayoral candidates debate the distribution of municipal cultural funding. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/prague-cultural-landscape-and-municipal-funding-debates --- Cite as: Prague mayoral election and municipal policy debates.
