The Pitlochry Festival Theatre is hosting the premiere of Martin Sherman’s play, ‘I’ll Be Seeing You’, which runs through October 11, 2026. The production, directed by Alan Cumming and Ben Occhipinti, features Simon Russell Beale as the pianist Liberace and Fra Fee as a writer documenting the entertainer’s life.

The play explores Liberace’s public persona and the tension surrounding his decision to deny his homosexuality during a libel trial against The Daily Mirror. While Beale’s performance has received critical acclaim, reviews have been mixed regarding the narrative structure. Some critics noted a struggle to balance meta-theatrical elements with a coherent thread, while others suggested the production occasionally simplified Liberace’s cultural impact by focusing on ‘drag-adjacent tropes’ rather than his musical mastery.
