On September 26, 2026, Archbishop Corrado Lorefice presided over the ordination of four new priests at the Palermo Cathedral. The deacons ordained were Antonino D’Alia, Giuseppe Notte, Sergio Scozzaro, and Leonardo Renda.

During his homily, Archbishop Lorefice described the ordained ministry as a “gift for Christian fraternity” rather than an administrative role. He instructed the new priests to serve with humility and to prioritize the marginalized, specifically mentioning the sick, refugees, the elderly, and those experiencing mental or physical distress. He further called for the creation of communities centered on “solidarity, compassion, and reconciliation.”
