Developments: 2. The Dr. Mladen Stojanović Hospital in Prijedor is preparing for a major reconstruction project valued at approximately 195 million KM. The initiative aims to modernize the facility, which serves more than 120,000 residents. Bids for selecting a contractor are expected to open on October 12, following a tender deadline on October 5. To maintain medical services during the 40-month reconstruction, officials plan a 12-month annex expansion. Acting Director Miroslav Bijelić indicated that work could begin within 15 to 30 days of contractor selection. Despite these plans, the project has faced criticism over delays. Local staff and patients have reported difficult conditions, including leaking roofs, inadequate windows, and a lack of essential equipment such as CT scanners. Some stakeholders have expressed skepticism, viewing the modernization as a recurring political promise that has yet to produce significant results. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-27: Dr. Mladen Stojanović Hospital in Prijedor to undergo 195 million KM reconstruction The Dr. Mladen Stojanović Hospital in Prijedor is set for a 195 million KM reconstruction, though staff and patients express frustration over long-standing delays and poor current working conditions. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/dr-mladen-stojanovi-hospital-in-prijedor-to-undergo-195-million-km-reconstruction ### 2026-09-12: Bihać Cantonal Hospital undergoes major modernization The Dr. Irfan Ljubijankić Cantonal Hospital in Bihać is undergoing significant renovations, including the reconstruction of several floors and the installation of a new hyperbaric chamber. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/biha-cantonal-hospital-undergoes-major-modernization --- Cite as: Prijedor hospital reconstruction project.
