# Prince “Purple Rain” Broadway musical

Producer Orin Wolf announced that the stage adaptation of Prince’s 1984 film and album “Purple Rain” will open on Broadway in spring 2027. The production, directed by Saheem Ali with a book by Peter Duchan, will debut at New York’s Majestic Theatre. Previews are set for 12 March 2027 and the official opening night for 12 April 2027, followed by a full run. 

Jason Michael Webb handles music supervision, arrangements and orchestrations, while Ebony Williams provides choreography. Long‑time Prince collaborators Bobby Z and Morris Hayes serve as music advisers. The show will feature more than 20 Prince songs, including “When Doves Cry,” “I Would Die 4 U,” “Take Me with You,” and “The Beautiful Ones.” Tickets are slated to go on sale in September 2026. The musical follows a successful out‑of‑town tryout in Minneapolis in 2025 and a revamped creative team for the Broadway transfer.
