Prince William is expanding the global reach of the Earthshot Prize, an environmental initiative he founded in 2020. To promote the upcoming awards ceremony in Mumbai, India, the event will be broadcast via Amazon Prime Video to over 240 countries and in more than 40 languages.

In preparation for the Mumbai summit, which includes awarding £5 million in prize money, the Prince appeared on The Graham Norton Show to discuss the initiative’s mission to celebrate environmental solutions. This appearance marked a historic moment as the first time a working member of the British royal family has appeared on the program. Joining host Graham Norton on the ‘iconic red sofa’ alongside guests Cate Blanchett, Robert Irwin, and Hannah Waddingham, the Prince emphasized the importance of pairing urgency with optimism to drive action across the initiative’s five key goals: protecting nature, cleaning air, reviving oceans, building a waste-free world, and fixing the climate.

During the interview, the Prince also shared personal anecdotes, noting his admiration for Christopher Nolan’s films, his support for Aston Villa Football Club, and his childhood ambitions to become a policeman or a DJ. He also mentioned that his children, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, are fans of the television program ‘The Celebrity Traitors’.

The Mumbai ceremony, scheduled for November 17, is expected to host approximately 5,000 guests and features a high-profile lineup including actors Rami Malek, Alia Bhatt, and Sonam Kapoor, as well as singer Shreya Ghoshal. The event will also feature the ‘I CAN Earthshot Challenge,’ involving fifteen teams of young people from India working on environmental solutions.
