Princess Anne has participated in several commemorative ceremonies marking historical military sacrifices.

In Oslo, the Princess Royal and Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide unveiled the ‘Coastwatchers’ monument at Normandieplassen. Created by artist Håkon Anton Fagerås, the sculpture honors Norwegian and British agents who operated during the German occupation of Norway in World War II. The monument is part of the Anglo-Norwegian Resistance Commemoration Project and serves as a symbol of cooperation between the two nations.

In London, Princess Anne, acting as Senior Colonel of the Household Division, led a ceremony at Horse Guards Parade to mark the 100th anniversary of the Guards Memorial. The event commemorated members of the Foot Guards who died during the First World War. During her address, she stated, “As we gather here a century later, our foremost purpose remains to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
