Brazilian broadcaster Globo is developing ‘Avenida Brasil 2’, a sequel to its 2012 telenovela written by João Emanuel Carneiro. 

Initial casting announcements confirmed Thomás Aquino as a militiaman in the fictional Divino neighborhood and Jéssica Ellen in a role linked to the character Carminha. 

Subsequent details revealed that the production will feature football as a central theme, centered around the ‘Divino Futebol Clube’. The plot will involve the character Tufão, played by Murilo Benício, and a new director named Espiridião, portrayed by Ernani Moraes. The narrative is expected to follow the return of Carminha, played by Adriana Esteves, to Tufão’s family. 

While filming was initially slated to begin in October, the series is scheduled to premiere in 2027, replacing ‘Quem Ama Cuida’ in January. The production will feature a mix of returning original cast members and new additions.
