The upcoming action thriller, ‘King’, directed by Siddharth Anand, has entered a period of active promotion and production. Initial updates included the release of a poster featuring Shah Rukh Khan in a gritty persona, highlighting his reunion with Anand and his first onscreen pairing with daughter Suhana Khan. Production details indicate the film features an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Raghav Juyal. Reports noted that filming for a dance sequence involving Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan has commenced in Mumbai. Director Siddharth Anand has used social media to tease the project with cryptic posts, such as “It’s” and “Time For The World”. These messages have generated anticipation as they coincide with Shah Rukh Khan’s 61st birthday on November 2. Industry reports suggest a major announcement, such as a teaser or character poster, may be released at midnight to showcase a unique new look for the actor. Phars Film has been announced as the international distributor. While earlier reports confirmed the partnership, new industry reports suggest Phars Films has secured international theatrical rights with a minimum guarantee of approximately 175 crore rupees, exceeding 18 million USD. Venky Mysore, CEO of Red Chillies Entertainment, stated that Phars Film’s international reach will strengthen the movie's global prospects. The film, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, is one of the most anticipated Indian films of 2026, with an estimated budget of approximately Rs 450 crores. It is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on December 24, 2026. Recent developments indicate a change in the musical direction of the project. Music composer Anirudh Ravichander has reportedly stepped away from the film due to scheduling conflicts involving large-scale projects in the South Indian film industry.
