Searchlight Pictures acquired ‘Playmates’, a coming-of-age drama written and directed by Lorraine Nicholson. The film is inspired by Nicholson’s childhood experiences at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles and follows the relationship between a 13-year-old girl, played by Indiana Elle, and a young woman named Anna, played by Lily-Rose Depp. Bill Pullman is cast to portray Hugh Hefner. Following the initial acquisition, Jessica Biel joined the cast to play a fictional character described as a composite of a former Playmate and wife of Hefner. Production is currently underway in Los Angeles, with Lily-Rose Depp also serving as a co-producer. The narrative focuses on the bond between Elle and Anna as they navigate life and ambition within the mansion, specifically as Anna aspires to become a ‘Playmate of the Month’. Filming is expected to conclude in November, with a release planned for next year. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-21: Lily-Rose Depp films Playmates in Los Angeles Lily-Rose Depp is filming the movie ‘Playmates’ in Los Angeles, a project directed by Lorraine Nicholson inspired by life at the Playboy Mansion. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/lily-rose-depp-films-playmates-in-los-angeles ### 2026-10-06: Jessica Biel joins cast of Playboy Mansion-inspired film Playmates Jessica Biel will star in the Searchlight Pictures film Playmates, a coming-of-age drama inspired by life at the Playboy Mansion, alongside Bill Pullman and Lily-Rose Depp. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/jessica-biel-joins-cast-of-playboy-mansion-inspired-film-playmates ### 2026-09-22: Searchlight Pictures acquires ‘Playmates’ film Searchlight Pictures has acquired ‘Playmates’, a coming-of-age film directed by Lorraine Nicholson starring Bill Pullman, Lily-Rose Depp, and Indiana Elle, set around the Playboy Mansion. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/searchlight-pictures-acquires-playmates-film --- Cite as: Production of Playmates film.
