Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) confirmed the production of ‘Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga’, the third installment in its crime drama franchise. Based on the book ‘Sahara: the Untold Story’ by Tamal Bandyopadhyay, the series chronicles the career of Sahara India Pariwar founder Subrata Roy, including his rise to power and the financial misconduct accusations that led to his 2014 arrest.

While the project previously faced potential legal challenges from Sahara India Pariwar regarding its portrayal of ongoing disputes with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), SPNI Managing Director and CEO Gaurav Banerjee indicated that these legal issues may have been resolved. 

Production has since commenced under the direction of Hansal Mehta. Siddharth Bodke has been cast to play the role of Subrata Roy. The series is a collaborative production involving Applause Entertainment, Sony’s Studio Next, and Birla Studios.
