Sources: 8. Developments: 2. The professional cycling landscape is seeing adjustments to competition schedules for the 2027 season. In road cycling, the UCI calendar will feature new early-season options, with the Vuelta Ciclista a Canarias scheduled for January 14–17, 2027, serving as the first event. This provides alternatives to the Tour Down Under, which is set for January 19–24. Additionally, the MEX Tour returns to the calendar in late January, alongside the new Clásica de la República. In mountain biking, the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series has confirmed its 2027 calendar, consisting of ten rounds across eight countries. The schedule shows a strategic focus on Europe and North America, notably excluding South America and Asia. The season is slated to begin on May 21 in Nové Město na Moravě, Czech Republic, with the downhill season opener taking place in Loudenvielle-Peyragudes, France. The competition includes eight rounds for both the Endurance (Cross-Country short track and Olympic) and Gravity (Downhill) disciplines. Key European locations include Saalfelden Leogang, Austria, Les Gets, France, La Thuile, Italy, and Pal Arinsal, Andorra. Following stops in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, and Val di Sole, Italy, the season will conclude in North America at Soldier Hollow, United States, and Whistler, Canada. Lenzerheide, Switzerland, has secured its place as a permanent fixture of the series through at least 2029. This structure follows changes in the sport, including the removal of enduro from the series and evolving manufacturer investment strategies. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-29: UCI Mountain Bike World Series announces 2027 calendar The 2027 UCI Mountain Bike World Series calendar features ten rounds in eight countries, focusing on Europe and North America with stops in Czechia, France, Italy, Switzerland, the US, and Canada. 8 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/uci-mountain-bike-world-series-announces-2027-calendar ### 2026-10-02: Cycling calendar shifts with new 2027 season openers The 2027 cycling season introduces new early-season races in Mexico and the Canary Islands, providing alternatives to the Tour Down Under. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/cycling-calendar-shifts-with-new-2027-season-openers --- Cite as: Professional cycling competition calendar updates.
