Recent developments in professional football include contract extensions for key defenders. Miljan Krpić, a Serbian defender playing for the Hungarian club Győr, has signed an extension through June 2029. Krpić, who holds a Hungarian passport, is currently awaiting FIFA approval to change his international status to represent the Hungarian national team.

In Greece, PAOK FC has reached an agreement with central defender Giannis Michailidis to extend his contract until the summer of 2030. The 26-year-old, a product of the club’s academy who joined in 2016, has made 165 senior appearances and scored nine goals since his debut in January 2020.

The negotiations, led by Maria Gotsarova, reportedly resulted in an increase in Michailidis’s annual salary from approximately €600,000 to €950,000, supplemented by performance bonuses. The new agreement includes no buyout clause, ensuring the club maintains control over the player’s future. This extension follows the defender’s successful return to professional football after a serious ACL injury in March 2022.
