Sources: 5. Developments: 2. Prologis has announced plans to develop ‘Prologis Park Sakai’, a four-story logistics facility in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture. Scheduled for construction starting in June 2027 and completion by February 2029, the 36,700-square-meter site will support both Build-to-Suit and multi-tenant requirements. The facility is designed with strategic access to major expressways and Kansai International Airport, featuring technical specifications such as dual-sided loading bays, solar power, and earthquake warning systems. Expanding its Japanese operations, Prologis has entered a partnership with Taiwan-based ALP Logistics Property to develop the country’s first large-scale multi-tenant automated warehouse facilities. This collaboration, utilizing the ‘OMEGA’ service model, aims to mitigate labor shortages and rising costs through shared automated infrastructure. The first joint project will be located in Kyotanabe, Kyoto Prefecture, with construction slated for late 2027 and completion in 2030. This initiative involves an estimated investment of between 80 billion and 100 billion yen and will utilize Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) for storage and transport processes. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-04: Prologis and ALP partner to develop automated warehouses in Japan Prologis and ALP Logistics Property are partnering to build Japan’s first large-scale multi-tenant automated warehouses, starting with a major project in Kyotanabe, Kyoto, slated for 2030. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/prologis-and-alp-partner-to-develop-automated-warehouses-in-japan ### 2026-09-29: Prologis to develop logistics facility in Sakai, Osaka Prologis will begin construction of the 36,700-square-meter Prologis Park Sakai in Osaka in June 2027, aiming for a February 2029 completion. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/prologis-to-develop-logistics-facility-in-sakai-osaka --- Cite as: Prologis logistics development in Japan.
