Donald Trump announced plans to establish a new military “super range” in Montana dedicated to testing advanced weaponry and next-generation technologies. The announcement was made during a political gathering in Kalispell.

The proposed facility is intended to address the growing need for specialized testing environments for modern warfare, including autonomous weapons systems, space-based technologies, electronic warfare equipment, and supersonic and hypersonic munitions. The initiative aims to provide vast, remote areas for practical testing that cannot be fully replicated through computer simulations.

Further details indicate the Department of War would oversee the facility. The announcement follows government confirmations regarding on-orbit space control weapons. Senator Tim Sheehy has advocated for the project, having secured $10 million for a feasibility study through the National Defense Authorization Act.
