The psychological horror and social thriller genres are experiencing a period of creative renewal and growth in digital consumption. Recent productions have focused on themes of community paranoia, extremism, and social control. Examples include the Netflix miniseries ‘Delusion’, which uses folklore and local panic in Thailand to explore collective fear, and the film ‘Virtuosas’, which examines repression within exclusive, manipulative environments.

This trend is part of a broader movement toward ‘elevated horror,’ a style that utilizes psychological depth and metaphors for human trauma and isolation. Streaming platforms are seeing increased demand for investigative suspense and mental mystery narratives, with major upcoming productions including the second season of ‘Severance’ and the miniseries ‘His & Hers’ on Netflix.
