Nimba County District 9 Representative Taa Wongbe recently drew political attention by offering public praise for former Liberian President George Weah. While Wongbe has been a vocal critic of Weah and the Congress for Democratic Change, he credited the former leader for his football legacy and his decision to concede the 2023 presidential election to current President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.

As Weah approaches his birthday on October 1, his dual legacy as a legendary footballer and a former head of state remains a point of public discussion. Weah, who served as President from 2018 to 2024, is noted as the only African player to win the FIFA World Player of the Year award.
