In late August 2026, a series of violent incidents occurred in the Abando neighborhood of Bilbao.

On August 27, a 23-year-old man was arrested after a confrontation involving three individuals. During a fight between two men, a third person used the neck of a bottle to strike a 24-year-old in the face. The victim was treated at Hospital de Cruces.

By August 31, the area experienced further unrest when a group of approximately 25 people engaged in public disorder. During these disturbances, individuals threw bottles at Ertzaintza officers, causing injuries to several police members and damaging a vehicle. The unrest led to the arrest of fourteen people, including five minors and nine adults. Two additional arrests were made in a separate incident in the same neighborhood during the early morning hours.
