The Municipal Health Secretariat of Ilhéus has engaged in various public health awareness and prevention initiatives.

In early September, the secretariat participated in a civic parade for Brazil’s Independence Day. During this event, the Endemic Disease Combat Coordination focused on educating the public about the prevention of arboviruses, such as dengue, Zika, and chikungunya, using educational characters to represent the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

Following this, from September 28 to 30, the city hall implemented the ‘Espelho Meu’ Project in the Banco da Vitória neighborhood. This initiative, led by the Municipal Reference Program for Leprosy and Tuberculosis, focused on leprosy prevention through community dialogue and direct medical evaluations to help residents recognize symptoms and seek early diagnosis.
