Developments: 2. Political debate regarding public safety in Ravenna began with the City Council rejecting several security-focused motions. Proposed measures by Veronica Verlicchi of La Pigna included establishing decentralized police outposts, increasing evening foot patrols, expanding video surveillance, and requesting the deployment of ‘Strade Sicure’ and ‘Stazioni Sicure’ near the railway station and Giardini Speyer. The center-left majority rejected these motions, with some members expressing concerns that the measures aimed to ‘militarize’ the city. Following these political developments, law enforcement agencies conducted operations targeting crime and safety violations in the city. Local police focused on the Speyer Gardens and railway station areas, resulting in administrative violations for public intoxication and the use of modified e-bikes. Additionally, the Carabinieri reported criminal incidents including an aggravated robbery involving a screwdriver, an assault following a traffic dispute on the Romea state road, and an investigation into aggravated theft and receiving stolen goods. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-18: Ravenna authorities conduct safety and crime enforcement operations Police and Carabinieri in Ravenna have reported multiple enforcement actions, including crackdowns on modified e-bikes, commercial food safety violations, robbery, and physical assaults. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ravenna-authorities-conduct-safety-and-crime-enforcement-operations ### 2026-09-29: Ravenna City Council rejects security proposals The Ravenna City Council majority rejected several security motions proposed by the opposition, including plans for increased police patrols and expanded video surveillance. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ravenna-city-council-rejects-security-proposals --- Cite as: Public safety and security in Ravenna.
