Sources: 3. Developments: 2. Mogi das Cruzes has implemented several public security initiatives focused on technological surveillance and specialized police services. Data from July 2026 indicated a 58% decrease in vehicle robberies and a 17.8% decrease in vehicle thefts compared to the previous year. Municipal Security Secretary Gilberto Ito attributed these reductions to increased support for the Municipal Civil Guard and improved integration with Military and Civil Police forces. A central element of this strategy is the ‘Smart Mogi’ program. After its first year of operation, the program has utilized 730 cameras—including 260 facial recognition units and license plate readers—to assist in the arrest of 181 individuals wanted by the justice system. This surveillance network is integrated with the state’s Muralha Paulista database. In addition to surveillance technology, the city has expanded its protection network by implementing 24-hour service at the Women's Defense Police Station (Delegacia de Defesa da Mulher). This transition to continuous service, established through a partnership with the State Government of São Paulo, aims to ensure victims of violence can access specialized assistance at any time. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-17: Mogi das Cruzes enhances security with Smart Mogi and 24-hour women's police station Mogi das Cruzes marks one year of its Smart Mogi surveillance program, resulting in 181 arrests, and officially launches 24-hour service at its Women's Defense Police Station. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/mogi-das-cruzes-enhances-security-with-smart-mogi-and-24-hour-womens-police-station ### 2026-09-03: Mogi das Cruzes reports 58% drop in vehicle robberies Vehicle robberies in Mogi das Cruzes dropped by 58% in July compared to last year, driven by technological investments like the Smart Mogi camera program and enhanced police integration. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/mogi-das-cruzes-reports-58-drop-in-vehicle-robberies --- Cite as: Public security initiatives in Mogi das Cruzes.
