The government of Puebla has implemented the ‘Seguridad para el Campo’ (Security for the Field) strategy to modernize regional agriculture through technology and mechanization.

Initial operations included the deployment of agricultural drones to spray pesticides over 60 hectares of sugarcane in Tepeojuma. This effort aligns with national plans to modernize Mexican agriculture via science and technology.

By later stages of the 2026 initiative, the program expanded to benefit 76,558 producers across 135,561 hectares. The state’s machinery park increased from 725 units in 2025 to 1,824 units in 2026, supported by an investment of 478 million pesos. The infrastructure now includes 78 drones, agricultural rovers, cane lifters, and threshers, aiming to advance toward ‘Agriculture 4.0’ and increase food production by nearly 2 million tons.
