The July 2026 partnership between BUAP and the state Secretariat of Tourism continues to drive Puebla’s knowledge‑economy agenda. After the fifth Plan Becas 2026 fair (18‑21 July) offered more than 10 000 scholarships, the state has added a series of cultural and agricultural initiatives.

In June, Puebla unveiled four new flavored versions of its Café 5 de Mayo at the National Coffee Convention, projecting 270 000 flavored jars and 220 000 soluble‑freeze‑dry bags from 38 tonnes of parchment. The CONCAFÉ 2026 event delivered workshops on value‑added coffee products, distributed 1 800 equipment units and announced support for over 200 000 ha of coffee farms, reinforcing the sector that now cultivates coffee on 71 000 ha across 54 municipalities.

Tourism promotion intensified with Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier’s outreach to U.S. migrant communities in New York and New Jersey, highlighting new air links to Newark and forthcoming routes to Houston and Los Angeles, and showcasing Puebla’s 12 Pueblos Mágicos and more than 60 municipalities with tourism potential.

Major festivals are expected to boost the service economy: the International Culture and Motorcycling Festival (FIC Moto) in August anticipates 25 000 visitors and a 60 million‑peso spillover, while the Mexican Petroleum Congress scheduled for 2027 is projected to generate about 400 million pesos. The National Coffee Convention attracted close to 40 000 visitors, helping lift Puebla from sixth to fourth place among Mexico’s most‑visited states.

The annual Feria del Chile en Nogada continues to expand. Calpan’s 2024 edition will start on 1 August with 130 000 dishes and an estimated impact of more than 50 million pesos, supported by a new digital platform promoting the Ruta Gastronómica del Chile en Nogada.
