The Puebla Municipal Slaughterhouse has initiated new preventive measures to address a screw-worm infestation, which officials identified as a threat to public health and the agricultural sector. Official José Ángel Minutti stated these actions aim to mitigate sanitary risks and protect food security through a surveillance and control system for raw animals. Subsequent reports indicate an increase in demand at the facility, with 177,882 animals processed. Sanitary inspections resulted in the seizure of 504 animals and 3,477 pieces of viscera deemed unfit for human consumption, alongside the disposal of 338 kilograms of decomposed meat. To maintain safety standards, authorities conducted 11 highway operations to verify regulations during transport. Additionally, training programs were coordinated with SENASICA and the Directorate of Protection against Sanitary Risks for public servants and operators to ensure compliance with sanitary standards. Recent data confirms the municipal slaughterhouse has processed nearly 178,000 animals over the last two years as part of these ongoing sanitary inspection and preventive seizure efforts. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-27: Various regional authorities intensify sanitary and security inspections Authorities across Latin America and Europe are intensifying sanitary, livestock, and security inspections to ensure public health and consumer safety during holiday periods. 10 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/puebla-municipal-slaughterhouse-reports-177882-animals-processed ### 2026-10-23: Puebla implements new measures to combat screw-worm infestation Puebla's Municipal Slaughterhouse is increasing surveillance and supply chain supervision to prevent screw-worm infestations and protect public health and food security. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/puebla-implements-new-measures-to-combat-screw-worm-infestation --- Cite as: Puebla municipal slaughterhouse sanitary management.
