The Pwn2Own Ireland 2026 hacking competition in Cork, organized by Trend Micro’s Zero Day Initiative (ZDI), concluded with researchers identifying a total of 98 unique zero-day vulnerabilities and earning $1,262,000 in prize money.

Twenty-nine research teams participated, targeting a broad spectrum of technologies including mobile phones, smart home devices, printers, and AI infrastructure. High-profile targets such as the Samsung Galaxy S26 and Google Pixel 10 were successfully compromised. The Samsung Galaxy S26 was a major focus, being successfully exploited seven times during the three-day event.

Ikotas Labs was named the winner, earning $361,000 for successful exploits involving the Samsung Galaxy S26, OpenAI Codex, and the Oracle Autonomous AI Database. Regarding the Google Pixel 10, three research teams demonstrated remote exploits against fully patched devices, resulting in total prize payouts exceeding $560,000. Ikotas Labs secured a $300,000 prize for chaining multiple issues, though the entry was labeled a ‘collision,’ indicating it utilized a bug already known to the organizer. Other winners for the Pixel 10 included the team Xint, which received $150,000 for a single bug collision, and a team consisting of Dimitrios Valsamaras, Ken Gannon, and Tenia Valsamara, who earned $112,500 for a chain involving one collision and one zero-day vulnerability.

All successful Pixel 10 attacks were classified as remote exploits, achieved through web content or radio links such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, or baseband. During the event, some exploits were classified as ‘collisions,’ occurring when vulnerabilities were already known to vendors or had been previously disclosed, resulting in reduced prize amounts. The competition’s primary goal remains identifying and disclosing security flaws to manufacturers to facilitate patching before malicious exploitation.
