Qamile Marra, a resident of Ferras, Albania, is a potential candidate for the title of the world’s oldest woman. Born on August 19, 1909, Marra is reportedly two days older than the current Guinness World Records holder, Ethel Caterham of the United Kingdom.

To support her claim, Marra’s family has presented various official documents, including a 1945 retroactive birth certificate, a 1978 passport, and a current identity card. Her family has contacted Guinness World Records to formally verify her age.

Marra’s extreme age has previously led to administrative challenges; local authorities in Albania once suspended her pension payments due to doubts regarding her survival, a situation her son, Hysen, eventually resolved with documentation. In recognition of her age, the Albanian government recently issued her a special state pension. Despite her age, Marra remains active in her daily routine, tending to her garden and livestock.
