A Delaware jury has delivered a verdict in the legal dispute between Qualcomm and Arm Holdings, finding that Arm violated its architectural license agreement and intentionally interfered with Qualcomm’s business dealings. 

The jury determined that Arm withheld essential software patches and processor testing tools necessary for Qualcomm to validate its Oryon processor cores. Furthermore, the jury agreed that Arm’s disclosure of a license violation to Bloomberg News delayed Qualcomm’s negotiations with Meta Platforms. 

Despite these findings of breach and interference, the jury awarded Qualcomm only $2 in damages. Following the verdict, Qualcomm expressed satisfaction that the jury recognized the breach of contract, while Arm noted that the jury ruled in its favor on four other claims brought by Qualcomm. 

The litigation originated from disputes following Qualcomm’s acquisition of Nuvia. While the jury has addressed the breach and interference claims, separate legal processes regarding whether Arm negotiated in good faith and whether Qualcomm is entitled to a five-year royalty exemption—which could save the company approximately $2.2 billion—remain central to the broader conflict.
