A 29-year-old provisional driver in Queensland was fined $1,104 after being caught driving while attempting to butter a bagel. Police reported that the motorist was using his knees to steer a silver Honda HR-V on a busy street while preparing the snack.

During the stop, officers also discovered the vehicle's registration had expired three days prior. The driver was issued infringement notices for driving without due care and attention, as well as driving an unregistered vehicle, resulting in the fine and the loss of three demerit points. Acting Superintendent Kelly Hanlen released body camera footage of the incident, warning that no meal or distraction is worth risking the safety of others.
