The Queensland Australian Football League Women's (QAFLW) competition moved through its final regular-season round toward the postseason. Initially, the final round of matches was set to determine ladder positions, with significant implications for the top four teams including Coorparoo, Wilston Grange, Bond University, and Morningside.

Following a 56-point victory over Coorparoo, Southport secured a place in the QAFLW Grand Final. The victory was driven by second-half performances from Holly Wall, Tayla Christensen, and captain Rianna Schipp, despite an early goal from Coorparoo’s Chelsea Chesterfield.

As the competition entered the Grand Final, Bond University’s Bull Sharks were set to face Southport. Bond University ultimately secured the 2026 QAFLW premiership, defeating Southport by 18 points at Brighton Homes Arena. The Bull Sharks controlled the match from the opening minute, finishing with a score of 6. 4 (40) to Southport’s 3. 4 (22). Shannon Nolan was awarded the Best on Ground medal for her performance, recording 26 disposals, eight tackles, and six inside 50s, with Evy Reeves and Skye White also contributing to the win. 

This victory marked the club’s second QAFLW title and ended Southport’s period of dominance. Head Coach Andy Lovell attributed the championship to the team’s resilience, noting the squad had to win three knockout finals to secure the title.
