In the featured match, ‘Team Nadal’—composed of Rafael Nadal, Carlos Moyá, David Ferrer, and Richard Gasquet—defeated ‘Team Murray’—consisting of Andy Murray, Dominic Thiem, Fabio Fognini, and Marat Safin—with a final score of 4-3. During the event, Nadal, who retired from professional tennis in November 2024, remarked that while he lacked his former competitive edge, playing before his hometown crowd was a special experience. The anniversary also included the inauguration of the 2026-2027 academic year at the UAX Rafa Nadal University School in Madrid and a gala dinner hosted by Nadal and his wife, Mery Perelló. Following the celebrations, Nadal provided updates on his health and future plans. He indicated a possibility of returning to the court through exhibition matches, noting that while professional competition is not an immediate goal, he desires to play exhibitions once he has achieved the necessary physical preparation. Regarding his recovery, Nadal stated that while he still experiences “mild daily pain” following a hand surgery involving a prosthesis, the severe pain that previously troubled him has disappeared. He reported feeling improved psychologically and is enjoying life more. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-10: Rafael Nadal hints at return to tennis via exhibition matches Rafael Nadal has hinted at a potential return to tennis through exhibition matches following a celebration for his academy's tenth anniversary in Mallorca. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/rafael-nadal-hints-at-return-to-tennis-via-exhibition-matches ### 2026-10-01: Rafael Nadal returns to court for Rafa Nadal Academy 10th anniversary Rafael Nadal returned to the court in Manacor to lead Team Rafa to a 4-3 exhibition victory over Team Murray, celebrating the 10th anniversary of his academy alongside tennis legends. 33 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/rafa-nadal-returns-to-tennis-for-academy-anniversary ### 2026-09-29: Rafa Nadal Academy Slam to feature Nadal, Ferrer, and Moyá Rafael Nadal, David Ferrer, and Carlos Moyá will headline a doubles exhibition at the Rafa Nadal Academy Slam in Manacor to celebrate the academy's tenth anniversary. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/rafa-nadal-academy-slam-to-feature-nadal-ferrer-and-moy ### 2026-09-27: Rafa Nadal Academy to host exhibition tournament in Mallorca The Rafa Nadal Academy will celebrate its 10th anniversary on October 3 with an exhibition match featuring stars like Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Richard Gasquet, Dominic Thiem, and Marat Safin. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/rafa-nadal-academy-to-host-exhibition-tournament-in-mallorca ### 2026-09-22: Nadal and Murray to lead teams at Rafa Nadal Academy Slam Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray will lead opposing teams in the ‘Rafa Nadal Academy Slam’ exhibition on October 3 in Mallorca, marking the academy’s 10th anniversary and Nadal’s return to the court. 16 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/rafael-nadal-and-andy-murray-to-face-off-in-mallorca-exhibition ### 2026-09-16: Rafael Nadal to return to court for academy anniversary Rafael Nadal will return to the court on October 3, 2026, for exhibition matches celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Rafa Nadal Academy in Manacor, Mallorca. 22 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/rafa-nadal-to-return-to-tennis-for-academy-anniversary --- Cite as: Rafa Nadal Academy 10th anniversary exhibition.
