A fast-track court in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, issued a non-bailable warrant against actress Rakhi Sawant after she failed to appear for multiple hearings regarding a 2010 suicide case. The case involves the death of Laxman Ahirwar, whose family alleged he committed suicide following mental distress caused by derogatory remarks made by Sawant during an episode of the television show ‘Rakhi Ka Insaaf’.

Following the issuance of the warrant, Sawant’s legal counsel successfully moved to cancel it by presenting an order from the Allahabad High Court which directed that “no coercive action be taken against her in the matter”.
