Sources: 3. Developments: 3. The Rakuten Monkeys have failed to qualify for the postseason following the conclusion of the regular season. This outcome marks a significant decline for the defending champions, who secured the Taiwan Series last year by defeating the CTBC Brothers 4-1. Following the team’s 120th regular-season game, head coach Tseng Hao-chu publicly apologized to fans and took full responsibility for the team failing to meet the minimum threshold for the playoffs. Tseng noted that while the first half of the season was “subpar,” the team regained competitiveness in the second half as players returned from injury, though they ultimately fell short in the final stages. Team captain Liang Chia-jung expressed gratitude to supporters and committed to using the off-season to prepare for future seasons. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-05: Rakuten Monkeys fail to reach postseason after defending title Defending champions Rakuten Monkeys failed to qualify for the postseason, prompting head coach Tseng Hao-chu to apologize to fans and take full responsibility for the team's performance. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/rakuten-monkeys-fail-to-reach-postseason-after-defending-title ### 2026-10-03: Rakuten Monkeys defeat TSG Hawks 7-5 in comeback win The Rakuten Monkeys overcame a four-run deficit to defeat the TSG Hawks 7-5, maintaining their pursuit of a CPBL postseason spot. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/rakuten-monkeys-defeat-tsg-hawks-7-5-in-comeback-win ### 2026-09-26: Rakuten Monkeys extend winning streak to six games The Rakuten Monkeys extended their winning streak to six games after defeating the Wei Chuan Dragons, highlighted by Su Ji-hao’s MVP performance and Jason Marsden’s career-best September batting. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/rakuten-monkeys-extend-winning-streak-to-six-games --- Cite as: Rakuten Monkeys fail to reach postseason.
