Real Oviedo and Sporting de Gijón reached a reciprocal agreement regarding visitor ticket allocations for their two Asturian derby matches during the 2026/27 regular season. For the first match at the Carlos Tartiere stadium, Sporting de Gijón supporters were allocated 675 seats at a price of 25 euros per ticket.

As the match approached, Real Oviedo fans gathered at the Silken Monumental Naranco to show support. Meanwhile, in Gijón, Sporting de Gijón supporters gathered at the Cristo faculties to collect tickets obtained through a draw. Some fans expressed dissatisfaction with the club’s management concerning the ticket distribution in Oviedo.

Prior to the derby match at the Carlos Tartiere stadium, both clubs set aside their historical rivalry to pay tribute to the people of Ceuta. The ceremony featured the flags of Ceuta and Asturias, accompanied by the Asturian anthem performed on bagpipes by Guti, the Major Bagpiper of Real Oviedo. The tribute received an ovation from the 28,826 spectators in attendance.

During the match, Real Oviedo secured a 2-0 victory, marking their first home win of the LaLiga Hypermotion season. Chris Ramos opened the scoring in the 8th minute after capitalizing on a defensive error, though he was forced off the pitch due to injury immediately after the goal. The match turned in the 73rd minute when Sporting’s César Gelabert received a red card following a VAR review. Exploiting the man advantage, academy player Enzo Pérez scored in the 82nd minute to seal the win. Real Oviedo manager Julián Calero, who emphasized a strategy of ball control and technical play, has been noted for his leadership style.
