# Recognition of Chilean educators

Chilean educators have received various forms of national and regional recognition for their professional contributions.

In late September, the organization Elige Educar announced nine finalists for the Global Teacher Prize Chile 2026. The competition, which drew over 5,000 applications, recognizes excellence in Integral Education, Music Education, and Early Childhood Education. Finalists were selected by a jury including representatives from UNESCO and the University of Chile.

By mid-October, further honors were distributed. In the Maule Region, the Ministry of Education recognized 80 teachers from 30 communes during a Teacher’s Day ceremony. Additionally, Camila Geraldo Bastías was named a ‘Memorable Teacher’ by pedagogy students, leading to her involvement in a University of Chile research project designed to document the pedagogical experiences of distinguished public school educators.
