The musical group Los Tigres del Norte, originating from Sinaloa, Mexico, is receiving recognition for its long-standing influence on Mexican music. Described as ‘ídolos del pueblo’ (idols of the people), the group has maintained a significant presence for nearly forty years with hits like ‘La puerta negra’ transitioning from cassette tapes to modern streaming platforms.

Further cultural recognition includes a performance for NPR’s Tiny Desk series in the United States. This performance highlights the band’s role in documenting the migrant experience through traditional corridos such as ‘Jefe de Jefes’ and ‘La Jaula de Oro’, bringing their cultural and political relevance to a mainstream American platform.
