To promote the use of the Madrid Metro to reach the upcoming Formula 1 circuit, Red Bull collaborated with the Madrid-based creative studio Andtonic to adapt a championship-winning car for subway tracks.

The project involved approximately 18 months of technical preparation to modify Sebastian Vettel’s 2012 RB8. Because metro tracks utilize specific wheel geometry, engineers developed bespoke aluminum wheels weighing 29.8kg to replace traditional tires.

Former driver Patrick Friesacher operated the modified vehicle on a closed network of tracks, traveling between the Sacedal and Chamartín depots and passing the Estadio Metropolitano station. This stunt marks the first time the Formula 1 championship has raced in Madrid since 1981.
