Oktoberfest-inspired community celebrations have been held or scheduled across different regions, focusing on traditional German food, music, and attire. In Germany, events in Schleching and Schömberg emphasized local community engagement and traditional Bavarian fashion. In Schleching, a breakfast for seniors featured traditional items like pretzels and white sausages, while honoring long-term volunteer service. In Schömberg, an event organized by Modehaus Bertsch promoted the use of Dirndls and Lederhosen at an observation tower to showcase traditional clothing as versatile fashion. Newer celebrations in Germany include the 16th Kiwanis Oktoberfest in Donauwörth, a charity event starting October 9, 2026, which features a 24-meter Ferris wheel, an autoscooter, and live music, with all proceeds directed toward social projects. Additionally, the Rü Oktoberfest at the Essen/Mülheim airport runs through October 10, 2026, hosting up to 4,000 guests with Bavarian specialties such as Hendl and Weißwurst. Following the conclusion of the Munich Oktoberfest, regional festivals continue. In Plettenberg, the Schützenverein Oestertal hosted its first Oktoberfest at the Oesterhalle. In Augsburg, the Lechhauser Kirchweih is scheduled for October 17 to October 25, 2026. This event will include a parade from Marienplatz to the festival tent, featuring a traditional barrel tapping by Mayor Dr. Florian Freund, alongside a market Sunday, an automotive mile, and community programs such as puppet theater. Recent festivities include the ‘Wiehler Wiesn’ at Hotel zur Post in Wiehl, where guests wore Dirndls and Lederhosen amidst blue and white decorations and live music from the band ‘Confect’. In Donauwörth, the 16th Kiwanis Oktoberfest commenced with Mayor Jürgen Sorré tapping the first beer barrel. While the event introduced a Ferris wheel, organizers noted that the festival will seek a new location after 2026 because the current grounds are scheduled for redevelopment for the 2028 State Garden Show.
