Local and regional health initiatives focused on preventive care and neurological health have been launched across several Italian municipalities.

In Ozieri, cognitive check-ups for residents over 65 were scheduled for late September as part of the national Mental Aging Prevention Week. These sessions, organized by the Giovani 78 social cooperative, aim to provide neuropsychological profiles to assist in maintaining mental functions.

In Ceccano, the municipal administration, supported by the Asl of Frosinone and the Lazio Region, scheduled five preventive health appointments between October 3 and November 13. This program focuses on early diagnosis and healthy lifestyles, covering elderly well-being, metabolic and thyroid pathologies, oncological screening, and youth mental health.

In the Abruzzo region, hospitals in Chieti and Vasto organized an ‘Open Weekend’ from October 8 to 11 dedicated to brain health. The initiative offers free services, including psychiatric consultations via telephone, Zoom, or in-person at the SS. Annunziata Hospital in Chieti. Neurological consultations for headaches and cognitive decline screenings for individuals aged 60 and over are also available at the Chieti and San Pio da Pietrelcina hospitals in Vasto.

Further community initiatives include the ‘Longevity Run’ in Gaeta on October 10 and 11, hosted by the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS to promote active aging through a ‘Prevention Village’ and a 5-kilometer walk/run. Additionally, the ‘Memorie’ program in Cervignano del Friuli, promoted by the Itaca Social Cooperative, will run from October 9 to 12, offering cognitive screenings, conferences, and a photographic exhibition to address dementia, aging, and caregiving awareness.
