The supernatural horror film Obsession, written and directed by Curry Barker, explores themes of love and possession through the story of a shop clerk named Bear. The film follows his wish for a friend to love him, which results in a nightmare that strips the character Nikki of her autonomy.

Following its theatrical release in May 2026, the film achieved significant commercial success, grossing over $500 million worldwide. It is noted as the second-highest-grossing original horror movie in history. Due to this success, director Curry Barker has expressed interest in releasing a 20-minute extended cut, which would increase the runtime from 109 minutes to nearly two hours and ten minutes, though he maintains the original theatrical edit is his definitive version.
