The film ‘Adams Acht’ dramatizes the ‘Miracle of Ratzeburg,’ the story of an underdog German rowing team that won Olympic gold in 1960. The narrative focuses on coach Karl Adam, a former boxing trainer and teacher, who utilized mathematical and physical principles like interval training to prepare the crew.

Directed by Hannu Salonen, the biopic follows Adam, often referred to as the ‘rowing professor,’ as he implements unconventional, scientific training methods in the post-World War II era. The story depicts how Adam assembled a diverse team of young men from North Germany, helping them overcome personal challenges and social prejudices to achieve elite status despite skepticism from the established rowing community.

Following its premiere, details regarding the production have emerged, including Oliver Masucci’s portrayal of Adam and Felix Kammerer’s role as rower Hans Lenk. To recreate the technical precision of the sport, the production was filmed on location in Ratzeburg, utilizing both professional rowers and actors.
